Having enjoyed a drink at Bacchus on several occasions and admired the menu we decided to give it a go.
It was a Friday night and busy but nevertheless we were surprised to be told that the first two choices for starters of my partner were not available and that there was just one left of the mussels I chose. As the menu is not huge this was a considerable reduction in choice and it was not late (about 7.00pm). My mussels were delicious but accompanied by the almonds I had asked to be omitted.
The french onion soup, John's third choice, was tasty and the ciabatta accompanying it made a welcome change.
Yet again the pasta choice I asked for was not available it transpired that only one of the three on offer was. I had that, penne with roasted mediterranean vegetables but it lacked flavour.
John did get his first choice main course, pork with black pudding and this did not disappoint.
Guess what the wine we chose was also not available. with such an unreliable menu perhaps a blackboard would have been advisable!
The food we had was good enough to give the place a second chance but we will go mid week in the hope of more choice.
