About Birmingham Plus
Birmingham Plus started in 1999, in part as a testbed/showcase for the work of its creators, 2bit Design. Its mission statement is only vocalised after several bottles of Rioja but it was conceived to address the paucity of information about restaurants in the region. As the site has evolved it has moved further toward being a place to exchange information and experiences about eating out in the Midlands. With the exception of the Christmas Menu selection, all information listed on restaurants is displayed free of charge and we actively encourage restaurant owners and chefs to contact us to inform us of events, menu changes, special offers, indeed anything that may be of interest to our visitors. We believe we operate the site with integrity and fairness and with a stab at humuor that perhaps indicates an over-fondness for Rioja, Chablis and other dear friends as well as the onset of the best years of our lives.

General

Can you recommend a good place to ...?
Possibly, but hopefully that's what the site is for. Once in a while we have to do some paid work.

Can I link to Birmingham Plus/Will Birmingham Plus link to my site?
Email us. If its relevant we'll add it to our directory. If you want to link to us, you can simply use

Can I write for the site?
Absolutely. Either send us your opus on spec (plain text or Word format are good) with some pics if you have them and we'll then check it for libel, slander, grammar and interest and once passed it goes up. Alternatively, email us with a subject of interest and we'll go from there.

Do I get paid for writing for the site?
No.

Restaurant Owners
How do I get my restaurant listed?
Contact us by email, fax or phone and let us have as much info as possible.

Someone has written an unfair review of my restaurant, what can I do about it?
If you believe that the review is a malicious attempt to besmirch the name of your restaurant, please contact us with details to establish that this is the case. If, on reviewing this evidence, we conclude that the review is fictitious we will remove it from the site.

I would like to comment on a review of my restaurant.
There are three ways in which you can respond to issues raised in reviews (or indeed on the forums):
1) Contact the person concerned by email by clicking on their username (you need to have registered as a member of the site to do this - its free - and the member needs to have chosen to allow their email address to be used)
2) Raise the matter in the forums - you need to be a member of the site to do this
3)Use the recently added RIGHT TO REPLY section at the end of every review to make your points - every time someone reads a review they are able to see your response. Please email your comments to info@birminghamplus.com.

How do I get more coverage on the site?
We try to provide a veritable feast of info for free. If you're still hungry for more exposure we can offer advertising (see below), inclusion within the various menu promotion schemes throughout the year (Christmas, Valentine's etc) and are open to ideas on cross-promotion such as competitions (email tim@birminghamplus.com if you wish to explore ideas of this nature)

Press
We endeavour, wherever possible, to attribute the source of our news items and stories to the publication from which they came. We would appreciate it if those using this site as a resource for their publications did likewise.
